As we enter the AI era, the US will gain a massive advantage due to its flexible labor market
Once companies begin to fully utilize AI and robotics to increase productivity,
the biggest issue will be what to do with redundant employees..
If they can lay people off, it's simple, but for companies where that is difficult,
there are clear limits to retraining, rotating staff, or minimizing new hires..
From the employees' perspective, if they can't be laid off anyway, instead of struggling to adapt to environmental changes,
it's easier to just give up and focus on enduring until retirement..
In other words, as AI becomes more active and the need for humans decreases, the gap between companies that can lay off employees and those that cannot
will widen tremendously..
And surprisingly, in most developed countries, it is very difficult to fire employees..
This applies to major European nations, as well as Korea, Japan, Taiwan, and even China..
The country where layoffs are most flexible is undoubtedly the United States..
In short, the US—already the home of AI and the global software hegemon—will now gain the added premium of flexible workforce management. I wonder if companies in other countries can even compete..
Ultimately, whether it's semiconductors or Samsung Electronics, in the long run, even considering taxes,
it is highly likely that US stocks will outperform stocks from other countries.
