I think we should stop using terms like "easy assignment" or "sweet post" when talking to people who have completed their military service
I am a prime example of someone who had an "easy assignment" or a "sweet post," and I was one of those types who had it relatively easy in the military.
However, this is logic that only makes sense between men who have served; women seem to think that we actually just spent our time playing and relaxing.
While it was certainly one of the more comfortable roles, I still had to do morning runs every day, stand guard duty, live in the barracks, and undergo winter training, guerrilla training, forced marches, and all sorts of other minor drills. That lifestyle wasn't exactly "easy."
So, because some women would occasionally tease me saying, "But you had it easy!!!" I eventually got fed up one day and snapped at them seriously:
"It's just easier than other soldiers' roles; don't mistake it for actually just playing around.
If you guys tried to endure my so-called 'easy assignment' for even two weeks, you'd be crying and begging to go home.
And during winter training or guerrilla training, you'd all probably collapse from exhaustion during the very first day's entry march or just from the process of setting up tents."
I gave them a serious reality check.
Because we use terms like "sweet post" among ourselves, women mistakenly think it's a truly relaxing life. The military is still the military.
