Son Heung-min's defensive contribution is world-class.

‌

This is from 2024, and considering his age, he is overwhelmingly number one among players in their 30s.
There is no attacking player in the entire world who contributes to defense as much as Son Heung-min.
So why do people keep saying he isn't doing anything?
Do they think he's only doing his job if he drops down to the wingback position like Park Ji-sung, making insane tackles to steal the ball and then dribbling past 10 players to score;;
The main problem with the Korean team is the lack of a specialized defensive midfielder and the insufficient work rate of the midfielders.
Next is the lack of forwards to play on the wings or as a lone striker.
After that, it's the fullbacks.
If we had a reliable lone striker, Son Heung-min could just play on the wing, but that's not possible.
Because the midfield is weak, the passes don't reach him, making it look like Son Heung-min isn't doing anything.
