According to ruling party sources on the 9th, it has been confirmed that the 7-Member Group held a meeting last week. The 7-Member Group is a pro-Lee faction consisting of Reps. Jeong Seong-ho, Kim Young-jin, Moon Jin-seok, and Kim Nam-kuk, along with former Reps. Kim Byung-wook, Lee Kyu-min, and Lim Jong-seong.
One attendee said in a phone call with News1, "Approval ratings have nearly been cut in half, which is a concern for any Democratic Party member," adding, "The consensus is that there is no immediate solution or turning point, so how could we possibly have a clever way out?"
It was reported that although the meeting took place after the Blue House announced its cabinet reshuffle, the attendees did not discuss the specific details. The atmosphere suggested they had not anticipated that the controversies surrounding Gender Equality and Family Minister nominee Yong Hye-in and Justice Minister nominee Kim Seung-won would escalate to this extent.
