The old Lesnar vs. Carwin UFC fight was truly a bizarre match...

It was a heavyweight fight where a single punch could end it all.
Even in that heavyweight division, Carwin, who was the most powerful puncher at the time,
was landing dozens of consecutive shots on Lesnar.
The referee was just shouting but wouldn't stop the fight,
and yet, Lesnar actually managed to endure it,
then secured a comeback victory by choking out an exhausted Carwin in the 2nd round........
It's been over 15 years since that fight, but even thinking about it now, I can't understand it.
Why didn't the referee intervene, and how on earth did Lesnar endure that?
Even now, whenever a debate breaks out regarding early stoppages by referees,
I always think of this fight, and the Chuck Liddell vs. Patrick Barry fight, which was also a heavyweight bout.....
It wasn't an early stop, but a "latest stop," and since it turned out to be the correct decision in the end...
