Humans are a species that created religions through crude hymns and faith, leading to the Dark Ages of the Middle Ages; therefore, believing that humanity will remain safe in the face of new senses penetrating through next-generation neural interfaces—perhaps the evolution of the optical cochlear implant, which will be tens of thousands of times more sophisticated—is a meaningless belief.
