The Calculus of the Hormuz War?

According to various analysts, some argue that paying transit fees or protection money as demanded by Iran would be more cost-effective than war. While this would raise oil prices due to increased crude oil logistics costs... I am not sure whether it would be calculated per barrel... or per tanker...
The Strait of Hormuz is a natural strategic advantage... in the event of a swarm drone attack... there is a possibility that warships could be sunk.
It is akin to walking straight into a tiger's mouth.
Regardless of how well their underground fortresses are established... even if a multinational force is formed... they will be extremely vulnerable to guerrilla warfare.
Even though missiles have been poured onto land targets... the fact that their ballistic missile and drone capabilities are being maintained is a singularity.
If the US military, led by Trump, could not achieve victory and suffered a defeat... the same would apply even if warships from other nations flocked there.
I believe this is not a matter of strategy or tactics... but a war that is difficult to win.
If Iranian forces are determined to achieve martyrdom through religious conviction... demanding surrender or submission seems like an absurdity.
