Controversy over Park Chung-hee's seizure of Yeungnam University
Since there is someone who keeps obsessing over logic and demanding evidence and proof for every allegation raised,
I will just settle it with this.
If I were a party involved, I might actually spend the time and effort to do that, but
this isn't even a new claim;
it is a well-known fact that has already been reported through the news,
yet it is true that many people are still unaware of it.
The controversy surrounding Yeungnam University is an ongoing issue,
and I will list a few points provided by an insider.
I titled this "Controversy over Seizure" because if I had simply written "Seizure," people might engage in wordplay by claiming I am making a "claim" with a predetermined conclusion.
According to an insider, "The Park Chung-hee regime forcibly seized Daegu University and Cheonggu University and merged them into Yeungnam University. Not only that, but he made the university his own through sheer power without contributing a single penny. Park Chung-hee was also the first and only person to use the title 'School Founder (校主)' at the university. How can stolen goods become the property of the Park family?"
Stating that "Yeungnam University is stolen property taken by Park Chung-hee," they demanded that "the Park family, who contributed zero assets, must completely sever ties with Yeungnam University." They also criticized that "Park Geun-hye, claiming to be a descendant of the founder, recommending board members is fundamentally void," adding that "it is absurd to exercise rights as a bereaved family member over something her father, Park Chung-hee, stole."
They argued, "Considering that various philanthropists contributed assets for the school's establishment and that much of the land in the Yeungnam University territory was forcibly expropriated from many farmers, Yeungnam University is, in effect, a school contributed by the citizens of Daegu and Gyeongbuk," and "The most desirable course of action is to normalize Yeungnam University as a university for the citizens of Daegu and Gyeongbuk." They further urged, "President Park Geun-hye must take this into account and promise to convert Yeungnam University into a municipal/provincial university even now."
For reference, the insider is a descendant of the Choi family of Gyeongju, and these remarks were made between 2013 and 2017 during President Park Geun-hye's term.
The reason the controversy over Park Chung-hee's ownership of Yeungnam University arose is
that after President Park Chung-hee's death, Park Geun-hye became the chairperson of the Yeungnam University foundation, adding controversy regarding the inheritance of the foundation.
I can't help but wonder: if Park Geun-hye had not become the chairperson and had no right to recommend board members, would the unnecessary claims about Park Chung-hee owning Yeungnam University have even surfaced? lol
Are you going to start obsessing over logic again? lol
