Solo travel has very clear pros and cons

Based on my experience traveling alone in Japan
Pros
I can move and eat according to my own condition and preferences without having to worry about a companion
Cons
It gets too lonely
Since the pros slightly outweigh that con for me, I find solo travel a bit better
I've had times where I went with someone and ended up incredibly stressed
But if I ever find someone with matching travel tastes and energy levels, I'll ditch solo travel immediately
