The officer in charge of the case (a male in his 30s, hereinafter referred to as Officer A) was booked by the Jeju Provincial Police Agency's Anti-Corruption and Economic Crime Investigation Unit on August 14 on charges of dereliction of duty, but he continues to claim that he "definitely spoke on the phone with (the missing person)."
