They tried to amend the Asian Games military exemption, but failed

There has been so much controversy that
instead of abolishing the military exemption for a single Asian Games gold medal,
they tried to change it to a point-based system
where points are accumulated through events like the World Championships,
but it was maintained in its current form due to intense opposition from the sports community.
It is easy to say we should change it, but difficult to actually do so.
