How do banks treat force majeure in shipping?

Banks assume no liability for consequences arising from interruption of their business by acts of God, riots, wars, terrorism or any other cause beyond their control. They will not honour a credit that expired during such an interruption, which is why force majeure protection must come from the contract, not the credit.
