Romance of the Three Kingdoms... The Sima clan tore the country apart, which kept the Korean Peninsula safe
Whether it's Sima Yi staging a coup
or betraying promises like they were nothing,
people call him an untrustworthy man.
But that's from the Chinese perspective;
from our perspective, it was actually quite a good thing, wasn't it? haha
Since they turned the country into a mess and ultimately
brought about the era of the Sixteen Kingdoms,
the Three Kingdoms of the Korean Peninsula
were able to buy quite a bit of time
in that chaotic era to accumulate their own strength.
If they hadn't caused such a mess,
considering how they were even defeated by Guanqiu Jian of Wei and Jin,
the Korean Peninsula might have been in significant danger.
Seeing how the dynasty that unified the Sixteen Kingdoms
tried to project that remaining power toward the Korean Peninsula,
if the Cao Wei dynasty had continued instead of the Sima clan,
they would have likely used that power against us on the Korean Peninsula as well.
So, from the Chinese perspective, Dong Zhuo or Sima Yi might be the villains,
but Dong Zhuo, who paved the way for the fall of the Han dynasty by splitting China,
or the Sima clan, who caused chaos after it was reunited,
are actually quite decent people from our standpoint.
Because they prevented the Chinese from uniting as one.
If that Chinese guy Zhuge Liang had lived and achieved unification, our Korean Peninsula would probably have been his next target.
